Mum Rachelle recently visited the studio to see what we could do for her in the way of contemporary art images for her new family home, featuring her partner Andrew and baby Freya. The inspiration we used for the below shots was from black & white contemporary styles used on recent TV programmes. Rachelle wanted something truly unique, and I’m happy to say that we were able to provide that for her. Although the initial idea was to just use her partner Andrew and baby Freya, I managed to convince her that all three of them should be included in a family portrait. Both Rachelle and Andrew were overjoyed with the finished products, which is of course always a good thing.
From an artistic point of view, the juxtaposition between fully grown man and baby works wonderfully, accentuated by the post-production addition of a set of angel’s wings. The image is almost reminiscent of Athena’s famous ‘Man and baby’ image.
